Fervent about nature conservation and fascinated by the sea, Cheryl Fan is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and is also an Emergency First Response Instructor.
Cheryl has worked at Maluku Divers in Ambon, Indonesia as a dive centre and resort manager, Sipadan Scuba in Borneo, Malaysia, and Blue Season Bali in Indonesia. She teaches mainly in English and Mandarin (Chinese). She has participated in Asian Dive Expo (ADEX 2008) in Singapore and DEM 2008 in Taiwan. Her diving adventures have brought her to Tioman and Sipadan Island in Malaysia, Indonesian islands of Manado and Lembeh Straits, Komodo and the Flores Sea, Ambon and the Banda Sea in Maluku, as well as Bali. She has been scuba diving since 2005.
Cheryl discovered the brilliance of the underwater world when she had
an opportunity to work with experienced marine biologists from the UK,
Singapore and Sabah. Passion soon found her a path to spread the message
of conservation through guiding students on trekking, snorkelling and
diving activities, while educating the younger generation on the biology
of our ecosystems.
Having previously worked as a professional photographer and journalist, Cheryl continues to explore the unlimited possibilities of underwater photography, as well as working towards a long-term goal of participating in environmental and marine conservation projects. She hopes that through teaching scuba diving, she is able to educate on how precious, beautiful yet fragile our marine environment is, and how vital it is to protect it while we still can. Cheryl also hopes that one day, she will be able to dive to the corners of the earth! |
